Avengers ASSEMBLE!

Ultimate Avengers, after seeing the B:TAS and first two seasons of Justice League on DVD, even a month ago, was crap.

However, divorced from that, it was pretty good. The shading was off, the music generally too overwrought instead of letting the action breath, and some of the voices were not quite right (Thor, for example, should have a Norwegian/Scandinavian/Finnish accent, not a pseudo-English accent that's dropped more often than Kevin Costner's in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves), and the "adult" storyline took some adjusting to (yes, I know it's based on Mark Millar's The Ultimates--it took some adjusting to, there, too).

And it took too long to set things up, though I did like that they took pains to make it a more cohesive story than the source material was, but the Great Big Fight At The End was worth the price of admission itself. And that was Captain America, hands down. Best version of him I've ever seen.
