Your Mileage May Vary

Baby sitting the munchkins, and when I'm this tired, I'm not going to be a very active guardian. I'll keep them from drinking bleach and stickin' forks in electrical sockets, but other than that? Lots and lots of DVD assistance.

But here's the amazing thing: not all the kids show collections and dvds are equally enjoyed by the two of them. We're talking about a 3-year-old and a 2-year-old, here. Not the kind you'd expect to have developed a discerning palate.

And yet, here's a two-and-almost-a-half-year-old who prefers Harry Potter And The Prizoner Of Azkaban to Sorcerer's Stone.

I mean, as a grown-up, I can recognize that Azkaban is the better of the two, and practically a piece of art on its own. But the 2-and-nearly-a-half-year-old is barely articulate. He can't even say "Harry Potter," he says "Pea Pottha."

Weird how these things go down.

The three-and-nearly-a-half-year-old doesn't care, one way over the other. But he does have a weird thing for trains, and gravitates toward "train" movies. Guess which "Pea Pottha" movie features the train?

They get into arguments--toddler arguments, and over which to watch not which is better, but still--over this. "Harry Potta Train" vs. "Pea Pottha" can sometimes last half an hour.

Oh, and the three-and-nearly-a-half-year-old pronounces the main character's name with a British lilt to it, like they do in the movies.

So. Cute.
